LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA LIFEGUARD TOWER ON THE MOVE

City employees today were in the process of moving a lifeguard tower back due to seasonal beach sand erosion.

The lifeguard tower is located at Oak Street in LAGUNA Beach.  The lifeguard tower move took place at very low tide giving workers additional room to work with.

The typical beach erosion cycle at this location in Southern California is Winter, large surf pulls sand out to sandbars creating less usable beach and
Summer generally smaller waves push sand back replenishing beach depth.
