5 Healthy Lunch Break Snacks for Lifeguarding

When you’re on the job, eating lunch may be the last thing on your mind. Working in a fast-paced environment as a lifeguard means you’re always on your toes — leaving you with a limited amount of time for lunch or snacks. The next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up these 5 healthy snacks to keep you filled up and fueled for the hard work you’re doing.

1. Trail mix

You can never go wrong with trail mix! This snack prevails in all kinds of weather, which is often an issue with snacks that melt in the sun. If you have a sweet tooth, opt for the sweet & salty trail mix. And if you don’t want extra sugar in your diet, there are plenty of salty trail mixes that will suit your taste buds.

2. Fruit and veggie chips

Who would have thought that fruits and veggies can be dried out and just as tasty as they are raw? Fruit chips give you a dose of carbs for quick energy needs, and veggie chips fuel your body with necessary vitamins.

3. Keto nut mix

Another snack that never melts in the sun: Nuts. Bulk up on a keto nut mix for a nice boost of protein. Pro tip: If you love cheese, you can find keto nut mixes that contain mini cheese balls. Yum!

4. Chia bars

In the healthy food world, chia seeds have recently become a big deal. They contain antioxidants and high levels of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. Not to mention, they’re low in calories and “bad fat.” If you need a quick snack that will fill you up, chia bars might be just the thing you need.

5. Peanut butter banana roll-ups

This one could count as lunch because it’s so filling and packed with protein. To make a peanut butter banana roll-up, you’ll need a tortilla, one banana, 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter, and sugar (if you like it sweet). Simply spread the peanut butter on top of the tortilla, stick the banana in the middle — and there you have it! Simple, tasty, and nutritious.
