Texas Reopening of Pools Announced by Public Pool Council

The past few months have been trying to say the least. Our world has faced plenty of unknowns — and we continue to have questions about the future. That being said, things are moving. We’re hearing news of states phasing back into the old normal, and one of those states is Texas.

This week, the Texas Public Pool Council announced that pools and gyms would begin to reopen on May 18. That being said, there are limits. Pools can only reopen if they follow these guidelines:

  • Pools may only operate at 25% of the total listed occupancy of the pool facility
  • Local pools may only operate if permitted by the local government

COVID-19 precautions are varying from state to state. For example, while Texas is reopening pools, St. Louis permanently closed pools throughout the summer. Florida has begun to open some public pools, too. We continue to monitor the news as we navigate this together.
