HEAT Launches 18th Annual “Learn to Swim” Campaign Today

Today marks the 18th year that the Miami HEAT has teamed up with Florida Blue, FOX Sports Sun, and the American Red Cross to encourage water safety in its annual summer-long campaign. The campaign, known as “Learn to Swim,” aims to combat high drowning statistics in South Florida by providing education and awareness surrounding water safety.

Today the campaign launches with an annual event, April Pools Day, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Murray Park Aquatic Center, 6701 SW 58th Place, Miami, FL 33143. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., In-Arena Announcer Michael Baiamonte will kick off the event with a press conference. Guest speakers include Miami HEAT Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Michael McCullough, and Florida Blue South Florida Market President, Penny Shaffer.

April Pools Day is just the beginning of this summer-long campaign. The Miami HEAT calls “Learn to Swim” its off-the-courts mission, as the team continues to strive to educate about water safety. In the campaign’s events to follow, the Miami HEAT, Florida Blue, and FOX Sports Sun will continue to encourage South Florida to learn and receive training about water safety.
